I don't know Pete - it's an interesting thought. I certainly think you have the opportunity to explore yourself in a way that other avenues do not allow you to. I wonder whether your career (not necessarily in business) acts as some sort of mirror i.e. it's a reflection of who you are OR maybe it's more about who you want people to think you are.

Maybe the more accurately people who know us in a personal capacity can describe how we act in business (and vice-versa) the more content we are?

A neighbour of mine got made redundant from BT last month. He'd been there 16 years. He was so delighted it is hard to describe. His job was not a reflection of him as far as he was concerned.

My motto has always been no regrets - I'd hate to get to the end of my career and wish I'd tried something.

Great to read your article - I have worked for small companies for the last 20 years and I now run a business with my partner and it's one of the best things I've ever done. I have discovered how important and how fantastic it is to take control of your own life.
